9 local shops founders use to get work done, from the Ohio Startup Network.
How we built this: from public guides, reviews and shop sites, checked October 2026. These are independent or small local shops, not paid placements. Wi-Fi, outlets, hours and laptop policies change, and a few shops below we could not confirm for work use. Please buy something, keep calls short, and don't camp a four-top at lunch.
Opened in 2022 and run by Harbor Bay Hospitality, with Charlie Eisenstat (founder of Pour Coffee) as head roaster. A big room (about 80 seats) with workspaces, meeting areas and a patio. One of our takeover hosts.
Opened in early 2025 and owned by Melissa Garrett-Hirsch, who also runs UnBar Cafe on Larchmere. A bright corner cafe with plenty of room, breakfast and lunch, and espresso drinks. One of our takeover hosts.
An Italian-inspired all-day cafe and aperitivo bar from owner Marie Artale, in the historic Vitrolite Building. Hours listed on its site: weekdays 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Seating is first come, first served, with no reservations. Work setup not confirmed from our sources. Visit, buy something, and tell us how it works for you.
A locally owned roaster with several Cleveland locations. The Ohio City flagship, in a former firehouse, is reported to have easy access to outlets, laptop-friendly seating and outdoor seating. Cleveland Magazine notes the Tremont shop has plenty of space in back for quiet work.
A Cleveland specialty coffee company reported to be employee-owned. Downtown Cleveland lists free Wi-Fi, plenty of seating and a patio at East 9th. Reported hours at East 9th close mid-afternoon on weekdays, so confirm before you plan an all-day session.
A university guide describes strong Wi-Fi and plenty of outlets, with indoor and outdoor seating. Handy for founders working near University Circle.
Opened in 2018 and run as a completely nut-free coffee shop, with pastries, hot food and local artisan goods. Cleveland Magazine calls it cozy with window-ledge seating and communal tables, and one local blogger says they love working there. Reviewers mention plenty of indoor and patio seating and free parking.
